Ron Damron

University of Pikeville women’s bowling Coach Ron Damron has worn many hats during his 25 years at UPIKE. Damron, Director of Planned Giving, has served as Vice President of Student Services, Dean of Students and Director of Athletics. Prior to coming to work at UPIKE, he was Vice President of The Citizens Bank of Pikeville and a teacher in the Pike County School System.

Damron has coached UPIKE’s successful women’s bowling program since its inception in 2001. His teams have won four national titles, the 2004 and 2008 USBC national team championships and the 2012 and 2015 NAIA national invitational championships.

Under Damron’s leadership, the women’s bowling teams also finished third at the USBC tournament in 2005 and were runners-up in 2013 and 2014. Also in 2013, he guided the team to a fourth-place finish at the NAIA national invitational. Damron has been named USBC National Coach of the Year four times in 2004, 2010, 2012 and 2015.

In addition, Damron has the distinction of coaching each of his teams to the USBC national tournament (2001-2015).

Damron, who earned a bachelors of science degree in education from Eastern Kentucky University and a master’s degree in counseling from Morehead State University, is married to Pikeville College alumna Shella Justice Damron (’72).
