PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville women's soccer team honored seniors
Ashley Crutcher and
Brenda Guerrero Saturday evening, both before and during the game with an inspired effort which resulted in a 1-1 tie with St. Catharine College.
The Bears finish their regular-season campaign with a 0-6-1 record in the Mid-South Conference, and a record of 6-9-3 overall. The Patriots finish the regular season with a 1-5-1 conference, 6-9-1 overall record.
Emily Caras scored the first goal for St. Catharine in the 45
th minute by dribbling through the defense unassisted and beating UPIKE keeper
Chelsea Schulte. The score capped off an aggressive half by the Patriots, who were called for a total of 12 fouls in the contest while taking 18 shots. In contrast, UPIKE shot only eight times in the game, but were more accurate with 75% shooting accuracy to St. Catharine's 67%.
The second half saw UPIKE retake the initiative, culminating in freshman
Stephanie Morgan's goal whizzing by St. Catharine keeper Lindsey Vinson. Morgan was assisted on the goal by sophomore
Kourteney Winner.
Schulte was on top form in the second half, as she recorded a total of 11 saves throughout the game. Vinson tallied five saves for St. Catharine.
The Bears now await their seeding for the Mid-South Conference Tournament, which will begin November 5
th and crown a champion on November 10
th in Rio Grande, Ohio.
