CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – For the first time this season, the University of Pikeville women's soccer team has dropped back-to-back games as Ohio Christian won 4-2 on Thursday after scoring three goals in the second half.
The Bears and Trailblazers were tied 1-1 at halftime after a first-half goal by Kaitlyn Abdon, but UPIKE would only score once more the rest of the way on a goal from Makenzie Stewart as OCU rallied in the final 45 minutes for the two-goal win.
UPIKE drops to 7-3 overall with the loss and is 2-1 in Mid-South Conference play heading into Saturday night's showdown with league-foe Campbellsville at 6 p.m. ET at the Bob Amos Complex. Ohio Christian improves to an even 6-6 overall after winning two straight after a three-game skid.
Katelyn Danner scored twice for OCU against UPIKE and Lexi Paas and Christy Burcham each added a goal. Keeper Mekayla Deffenbaugh finished with six saves as the Bears fired eight shots on goal.
Caitlyn Hunt collected five saves for the Bears who were led in shots by Abdon with five, including three shots on target. Overall, OCU outshot the Bears 15-13, while UPIKE held the advantage in corner kicks 4-2 and fouls 11-4.
