Women’s Soccer Looks to Keep Momentum Rolling against Warren Wilson

PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Women's soccer is off to its best start in program history at the University of Pikeville and on Thursday it can take the hot start one step further hosting Warren Wilson (N.C.) at 6 p.m. ET at the Bob Amos Complex.

UPIKE, 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the Mid-South Conference, welcomes an Owl team that has dropped two straight games to North Carolina Wesleyan and Salem (N.C.), after starting the season 2-1. Including Thursday night's matchup in Pikeville, five of Warren Wilson's (2-3) first six games will have been played on the road.

The undefeated Bears most recently won 1-0 at home against conference-foe St. Catharine on Saturday in the MSC opener. Kaitlyn Abdon scored the game winner in the 88th minute, tallying her second goal of the season, while goalkeeper Chelsea Schulte completed her third shutout of the season.

The Owls, members of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), are led by Bianca Canizio who has scored all four of their goals this season. Kat Camara and Natalia Castro have dished out an assist each, while keeper Clare Williams has made 32 saves with eight goals against and earned a pair of shutouts.

UPIKE and Warren Wilson have met the past five seasons with the Owls holding a 2-1-1 advantage. The Bears won 1-0 in Asheville, N.C., last season, but lost the year before that and tied in 2011.

Live stats of the game can be views at the NAIA DakStats site.
