Box Score GRAYSON, Ky. -- Playing in the third overtime in its last four outings, the University of Pikeville women's soccer team found a way to win in the closing seconds, topping Kentucky Christian 2-1 on the road Thursday.
After a 1-10 start in the first two months of the season, the Bears will look to get things rolling with postseason looming. The thrilling win with 38 seconds left in extra time is a good start as UPIKE will play four more regular-season games, including three Mid-South Conference opponents.
UPIKE forced overtime in an unconventional way, obtaining an own-goal from the Knights. Megan Stickler made them pay in overtime with the game-winning goal in the final seconds. It's the first goal of the season for the freshman who coincidentally is from Grayson.
Stickler has played and started in all 12 of UPIKE's games this season, but played the majority of her minutes defending on the backline.
