ST. CATHARINE, Ky. -- Offensive chances were hard to come by for the University of Pikeville women's soccer team as it was outshot 11-1 during a 4-0 loss at St. Catharine on Saturrday.
With three goals from Kindsay Miller-Riney in the first 13 minutes, the Patriots (8-10, 2-5 MSC) enjoyed a 3-0 lead at halftime. They didn't score again until the 78th minute when Vannah Moreland found the back of the net.
Three different St. Catharine players dished out assists, including Malorie Steele, Shelby Rush and Bethany Massey.
In what would end up being the game winner, Miller-Riney broke away in just the second minute of action, eventually tapping the ball past UPIKE goalkeeper Caitlyn Hunt into the right corner of the goal.
Hunt finished with three saves and all four goals against before Bryanna Schroers took over in goal for the final four minutes and 16 seconds.
Macarena Acuna took the Bears' lone shot, while Miller-Riney paced St. Catharine with four, all of which were on goal.
UPIKE enters the postseason its next time out as the No. 8 seed in the Mid-South Conference Championship, taking on top-seeded Lindsey Wilson on Nov. 5 at Lovers Lane Park in Bowling Green, Ky.
