WICHITA, Kan. -- On the eve of the 2015 Intercollegiate Team Championships, the University of Pikeville women's bowling team received numerous awards at the annual awards banquet, including Ron Damron being named National Coach of the Year by the USBC.
It's the fourth time Damron has been named the nation's top women's bowling coach by his peers, adding this year's award to others in 2012, 2010 and 2004. Damron has led the Bears to a pair of ITC National Championships in 2004 and 2008.
His players racked up awards as well, led by KT Simpson earning First Team All-America honors, while Brianna Larson was a second-team selection.
Both Shelby Fromm and Fallon Tallman were Honorable Mention All-Americans.
Simpson and Larson were both in the running for National Player of the Year, but Simpson was a runner-up and Larson came away with an honorable mention. The award ultimately went to Wichita State junior Daria Kovalova.
ITC qualifying gets underway at 9:45 a.m. ET on Thursday with match play set to begin at 1:45 p.m. at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kan.
