PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- A 2-1 lead in the 46th minute turned into a 5-2 loss for the University of Pikeville women's soccer team on Saturday night at Bob Amos Park.
Kaitlyn Abdon finished a cross from Bibian Borst in the 28th minute to tie it at 1-1 before Jasmine Davis sent in the go-ahead goal in the first minute of the second half.
But from the 58th minute on, Ohio Christian turned up the heat and took advantage of some UPIKE defensive mistakes to score four goals in about 15 minutes. Haylee Francis tied the score at 2-2 and Katelyn Danner tallied what would be the winning goal in the 59th minute.
Francis would add another goal 11 minutes later and Danner got her second strike five minutes after that.
UPIKE ended up with a 13-8 advantage in shots, but couldn't score late on keeper Mekayla Deffenbaugh who had four saves. Lara Verhulst finished with one save for the Bears in 86 minutes played.
Abdon led all players with five shots, while Danner paced OCU with three.
