Women’s Soccer Erupts for 6-1 Win at Cincinnati-Clermont

Cincinnati -- Led by two goals from Kaitlyn Abdon, the University of Pikeville women's soccer team got back on the winning side, erupting past Cincinnati-Clermont 6-1 on Friday night at the Wall2Wall Soccer Complex.

Playing for the first time in program history on a full-sized, regulation indoor field, the Bears wasted no time warming up to the place. Abdon scored in the first minute off a cross from Morgan Abner.

The next goal came from Abdon as well about 18 minutes later, this time from Katelyn McFarlane, followed by a goal from Bibian Borst in the 26th from Jasmine Davis and a fourth goal from Katie Porter in the 36th.

With the 4-0 rout on at halftime, the Bears were on cruise control the rest of the way, adding a 71st-minute strike from Davis off a pass from Paulina Ruiz and a final score from Abner in the 81st minute.

Cincinnati-Clermont got on the board in the second half as Alexis Armacast scored in the 50th minute on one of her game-high six shots.

Abdon led UPIKE with four shots, followed by Davis and Lyndsey Jones with three each off the bench.

Bryanna Schroers made her first start in goal for UPIKE, collecting three saves before coming out for Caitlyn Hunt with 12 minutes to play. Hunt finished up the game making two saves of her own.

UPIKE outshot Clermont 19-11 and had two corner-kick tries to its one. It's a quick turnaround for the Bears as they host Shawnee State at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday at the Bob Amos Complex.
