BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The University of Pikeville men's tennis season came to an end on Friday as the sixth-seeded Bears fell to No. 3-seed Cumberlands 5-0 on Friday in the first round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
UPIKE (3-9) had four players available, leading to it starting with a 3-0 deficit due to forfeits. From there it took the Patriots (8-10) two doubles wins to bring the match to a close.
The top-seeded pair of Bailey Horne and Andres Alvarez fell to Martin Barbier and Eric Banoub 8-6, while Devon Sgubin and Kenton Hall lost 8-2 against Aatu Merenheimo and Luis Montull.
With the five wins needed to clinch already secured, none of the singles matches were finished.
