TALLADEGA, Ala. -- UPIKE Women's Soccer took an early lead and never looked back on Friday during its season opener against Talladega, winning the match 7-1.
The Bears dominated the match from start to finish, putting 13 shots on goal to Talladega's two.
Pikeville scored two goals in the first half to take the lead into halftime, but really took control over Talladega's short roster in the second half, scoring an additional five times.
By the time the match had ended, junior
Reagan Bridge had recorded her first career hat trick after scoring three goals all of her previous two seasons in a UPIKE uniform. She also earned two
assists to her career outing.
Sophomore
Mardorie Flahn also had her first multi-goal game, scoring twice in the contest.
Tori Dillon and
Dana Turner each added a goal to the ledger in the game, while Turner also tallied two assists.
Meanwhile,
Erica Burkhardt stopped five of the six shots on goal she faced.
UPIKE will have nearly a week between games before it hosts Salem at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
