Women’s soccer loses to Montreat in Labor Day match

MONTREAT, N.C. -- UPIKE women's soccer has now lost two in a row after losing to Montreat on the road Monday, 3-0.

It was another tough match for the Bears' defense as the Cavaliers were able to place 13 shots on target out of 25 attempts. Montreat's offense was incredibly balanced as well with eight different players registering a shot on goal.

Bears goalkeeper Erica Burkhardt was able to stop nine of the 12 shots she faced. Freshman keeper Nancy Nolasco saw her first collegiate action as a sub in the final minutes and made her first career save.

Montreat opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a strike Kaitlyn Adams off the feed from Kristina Garren. That duo duplicated that effort in the 58th minute to bookend the Cavalier scoring. Elizabeth Cerrina was the other Montreat player to score late in the first half.

Pikeville's offense produced a slightly better output compared to Saturday, registering four shots on goal; one each from Reagan Bridge, Dana Turner, Skylar Chapman and Tori Dillon.

UPIKE has one more game this week, a Wednesday evening matchup with Berea scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. in Berea, Ky.
