PIKEVILLE, Ky. – UPIKE women's soccer had a tough opening to the Mid-South Conference season on Wednesday, losing to Campbellsville 7-0.
Campbellsville dominated possession, especially in the second half, limiting the few chance UPIKE had to mount an attack.
The Bears kept the Tigers off the board for the first 20 minutes until Hope Sanders beat the UPIKE defense.
CU added another goal to extend its lead but Pikeville was able to keep within striking distance at halftime.
Campbellsville busted the game open later with five second-half goals.
Libby Lukens and Erica Burkhardt split time in goal with Lukens making seven saves and Burkhardt making four.
