PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The season came to an unfortunate close on Friday as Life defeated UPIKE women's soccer 9-0.
The contest was UPIKE's senior day and also served as the play-in game for the Mid-South Conference tournament. With the loss, UPIKE finishes its season at 6-11, a four-win improvement from last season.
The game also marked the end of the careers of four UPIKE seniors: Reagan Bridge, Skylar Chapman, Jackie Kidd, and Dana Turner who all started and were captains in the match.
After an own goal on a cross, Pikeville did well to limit chances for Life for most of the first half. The Running Eagles then scored twice in a three-minute span just before halftime.
After the halftime whistle Life piled on the lead to the final score. Mya Holmes and Emily Branham contributed five of the six shots for UPIKE in the game.
