Georgetown, KY – The University of Pikeville men's golf team competed in the Georgetown Fall Invitational these past two days at the Cherry Blossom Golf & Country Club. UPIKE finished second in the tournament out of eight teams with a score of 594 (307, 287). This afternoon's team score of 287 (-1) is a new program record, besting the previous record of 288, which was shot in 2019-20. It vaulted them from fifth place to start the day to their eventual runner-up finish.

Individually, the Bears were led by junior Blake Maupin, who won the tournament with a three-under par 141 (70, 71). His score ties him for third in program history in a 36-hole tournament. Maupin was in third after day one, but his 71 on day two bested University of the Cumberlands Gustav Barden and Campbellsville's Landon Conner by three strokes to take home his first career collegiate win.

Also playing well for UPIKE was freshman CJ Corum, who finished in a tie for 13th with a score of 150. After struggling on day one, he came back on day two and fired a 69, which tied him for the fourth lowest round in program history.

Rounding out the Bears efforts were junior Broc Crist, who shot a solid score of 152 (78, 74), to put him in 20th place. Freshman Nate Feese tied for 31st after a score of 159 (77, 82), while freshman Tyler Ford (165) and senior Kevin Justice (170) also competed for the Bears in Georgetown. Ford put together a great day this afternoon, shooting a 74.

After a solid showing in Georgetown, UPIKE will return to the course Monday, October 18th when they play at the Roger Merb Invitational hosted by Shawnee State University at Elks Country Club.
