Women's Bowling Claims Fourth Tournament Title of 2021 at LMU Collegiate Challenge
Harrogate, TN – UPIKE women's bowling continued what has been an incredible 2021 run over the weekend, winning their fourth team title of the season at the LMU Collegiate Classic. The varsity team claimed the title in the five-team competition with an overall score of 7703 while the JV team finished second with 6812 pins.
Freshman
Kristina Catoe now has three individual tournament titles under her belt through just six competitions after finishing first at LMU with a score of 986. The two-time MSC Player of the Week averaged 197.2 pins per game in the tournament, with her best coming in game two where she bowled a 225.
Nicole Gilbert scored a 952 in the team event, notching a third place finish. Gilbert's best game was a 215 in game five. JV team bowler
Michelle Dekowski knocked down 932 to take fourth place.
The event was split up into two days of competition with Saturday being team games and Sunday a series of baker games. The Bears knocked down 3403 pins in 16 baker games, easily claiming first with 256 pins more than runner-up LMU who managed 2787. The Bears bowled a 234 in the 15
th game which was the highest single game score of the competition.
UPIKE was also the top-performer in the team competition, notching 4660 pins in five games. Lincoln Memorial had the second most with 4563. The Bears recorded the highest single game score in the competition by 97 pins, scoring a 1071 in the fifth game.
UPIKE's JV squad bowled a 4199 in the team portion of the competition, finishing 104 pins behind LMU. The team then knocked down 2613 pins in the baker games to combine for a weekend score of 6812.
Women's Bowling returns to the lanes on February 27
th and 28
th for the Thomas Burris Memorial Tournament held in Louisville, KY.
