Pinehurst, NC – UPIKE men's golf opened their spring 2021 campaign on Monday, hitting the links at the Pinehurst Invitational hosted by Georgetown College. The Bears clubbed a 315 (+27) in round one and sit at fifth on the leaderboard in the 10-team competition.
Pinehurst No. 6 is the course of competition, located among the ranks of the storied Pinehurst complex that has played host to three US Opens and has received numerous accolades for its acclaimed landscape. Visit Pinehurst Golf Resort's website

Southeastern University leads the field through 18 with a 299 (+11) followed by Truett-McConnel who are in second with a score of 301 (+13). UPIKE is behind Campbellsville who notched a 306 on the day, fellow MSC opponent Georgetown sits in 8
th with a 331 (+43).
Sophomore
Blake Maupin notched the top-performance of the day for the Bears, swinging an 18-hole score of 73 (+3) and mans the fourth place slot on the leaderboard. Maupin carded a second place performance earlier in the season at the Roger Merb Invitational with 137 (-7) on the tournament. The Richmond, KY native tallied his lone birdie of the day on the 14
th hole, tagging a pair of bogeys on the 9
th and 12
th, hitting for par on the other 15. He currently sits three strokes out of the lead.
Broc Crist finished with a 77 (+5) on the day, tallying a pair of birdies on the 15
th and 10
th holes to sit in 13
th.
Blake Moody notched an 82 (+10) to finish within the top 25.
