Catoe Claims NCBCA Rookie of the Year; IBMA Runner-Up

Arlington, TX – Kristina Catoe's historical freshman season brought more accolades on Wednesday night including National Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) Rookie of the Year, and First Team-All American honors. The Collegiate Bowling Awards were broadcast on BowlTV and included the International Bowling Media Association's awards which tagged Catoe Runner-Up Bowler of the Year.

For the NCBCA, Catoe is the 32nd All-American selection in program history and the 16th from UPIKE women's bowling to be named first team. Along with the All-American distinction, Catoe claimed NCBCA Rookie of the Year. This is her third award of the type, also winning MSC and NAIA Rookie of the Year. Catoe is the fourth in school history to earn the award.

Catoe is the 18th bowler in the program's history to be tagged IBMA All-American, joining now volunteer assistant coach Lauren Piotrowski who was named Bowler of the Year in 2018-19 and Runner-Up following the 2019-20 season.

Catoe's list of accolades is increasingly expansive, 2020-21 NAIA Coach of the Year Bobby Brown commented on her achievements.

"Kristina has had such a great freshman year. Through all the obstacles the team and her had to go through all year, it's amazing to see hard work paying off. I'm so proud of her but I think we still have more coming from her and this team in the future."
