Mya Holmes has been named the Mid-South Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. This is the first such honor for Holmes, a senior from Cedar Bluff, VA, whose six goals last week now give her the team lead and have helped UPIKE to a 3-1 record.
In their first game against Midway University on Sept. 7, Holmes provided all of the Bears offense as she pushed UPIKE to a 3-2 win over the Eagles. She took seven shots in the contest, with five coming on goal.
In their game Saturday night against Oakwood University, she recorded another hat trick against the Ambassadors in a 16-0 win. This is the first time a UPIKE women's soccer player has been honored as MSC Offensive Player of the Week since Meagan Johnson was honored on Aug. 30, 2010.Â
Holmes and the Bears return to the field on Saturday when they play their home opener against the University of Cincinnati-Clermont at 1:00 p.m.
