Bears' Season Comes To A Close At TMU

Crestview Hills, Ky. - The 2022 UPIKE women's soccer season came to a close tonight after the Bears lost a 5-0 decision to the Thomas More Saints in the first round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament.

Thomas More got on the scoresheet in the 1', but Elizabeth Lukens and the UPIKE defense held them scoreless for the remainder of the first half. It was a back-and-forth battle in the first half, with both teams getting great opportunities. Sophomore Brekel Tibbs recorded a great header shot off a set piece but it hit the crossbar in the 36'. Just before the half, the Bears had a great passing sequence to get the ball deep into TMU territory but could not get a shot off.

The Saints scored two goals in the 53' and 57' to go up 3-0 early in the second. Despite trailing, the Bears kept fighting and generating chances. Carley Groh recorded shots in the 70', 74' and 87' but could not find the back of the net. The Saints would add two more goals in the final five minutes to take the match 5-0.

Tonight's decision wraps up the 2022 season for the Bears. Tonight also wraps up Head Coach Logan Langseth's first year at the helm of UPIKE women's soccer, a year that saw the program make great progress.
