Pikeville, KY – University of Pikeville men's golf has released the program's 2022 fall schedule, complete with six events. The Bears will host one invitational this fall at StoneCrest Golf Course starting on Saturday, September 24th.
Head Coach Dustyn Reinstetle prepares to launch his second season at the helm, following a solid opening effort last season. The Bears met several individual and program marks, including a program record low round score of 287 in the Georgetown Fall Invitational where the Bears finished second overall.
Opening weekend takes the Bears to Laconia, Ind. for the Battle at Chariot Run, hosted by Spalding University. The event takes place at the Chariot Run Golf Club, a beautiful 7,200 yard course which was ranked Indiana's fourth Best Course You Can Play by Golfweek in 2018. The first round begins Saturday, August 27th and will finish on Sunday the 28th.
The Bears move closer to home for their second event, hitting the links at StoneCrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg, Ky. for the Alice Lloyd hosted ALC Eagle Invitational. The two-day event begins on Monday, September 12. Coach Reinstetle and the Bears look to build on last season's performance where they finished runner-up.
On Saturday, September 24th, the Bears return to the friendly confines of StoneCrest for the UPIKE Fall Invitational. StoneCrest is a sprawling 18-hole facility that sits on 700 acres of mountain top land in Southeastern Kentucky. Both the men's and women's team will be hosting the event, with 12 total teams slated to compete.
Monday, October 3rd takes the Bears to Glades Spring Resort in Daniels, W. Va. for a two-day outing at the WVU-Tech hosted Golden Bear Classic. The course features over 7,000 yards of challenging and picturesque play, and has been celebrated as one of the top courses in the state.
The Roger Merb Invitational will be held at Elks Country Club in McDermott, Ohio starting on Monday, October 17th. Shawnee State will host the event and will include several MSC institutions. The course was designed by renowned course designer Donald Ross in 1924 and has hosted several collegiate invitationals in recent years. The Bears notched a podium team finish last fall at Elks CC, clubbing an 18-hole score of 615, finishing 19 strokes out of the lead.
The fall schedule culminates with the MSC Fall Showcase on November 1st and 2nd. Held at Bowling Green Country Club in Bowling Green, Ky., the event will features a challenging lineup of conference opponents going three rounds (54 holes) of competition.
