Women's Soccer Season Ends At Milligan

Milligan, Tenn. - UPIKE women's soccer's 2023 season ended Tuesday night after a 1-0 loss to Milligan in the first round of the 2023 AAC Tournament.

The Buffaloes controlled the play early in this one, attempting seven shots in the first 28 minutes. Milligan finally broke through in the 29' when Angeleena Waaland found the back of the net. Waaland's goal was the only goal scored in the first 45. UPIKE was outshot 9-3 in the first half.

Lillie Kluesner opened the second half with a shot on goal, but MU keeper Akyla Walcott turned away the shot. Kluesner then had two corner kicks but neither found the back of the net. UPIKE was not able to find the back of the net in the second half and MU won 1-0.

UPIKE finishes the season 6-11-2 overall and 5-7-2 in AAC play. Coach Logan Langseth had this to say about the season, "I'm beyond proud of this team. An incredible battle till the whistle. I asked for them no matter the outcome we leave it better than we came. I know this team is the start of something great." Assistant Coach Danyel Joy added, "Although this is my one and only season coaching soccer at UPIKE. I will not coach another team.  This is my team."
