Rams blank Bears 4-0

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Columbia International (S.C.) University scored two goals in each half in a 4-0 win over the University of Pikeville in women's soccer on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The win moved the Rams to 7-3-1 on the season, 6-2-1 in the AAC. The Bears dropped to 4-6-2 on the season, 3-3-2 in the league.
 
The Rams got the scoring started in the 13th minute when sophomore midfielder Marissa Dill found the back of the net on a pass from freshman Lily Jackson.
 
It remained there until the 37th minute when junior midfielder Avery Long scored on an unassisted goal to make it 2-0.
 
Dill tacked on another goal until the 54th minute. Jackson contributed to another goal in the 65th minute when her corner kick was headed into the net by freshman midfielder Lily Vengelis to make it 4-0.
 
Columbia International had 10 shots on goal in the win. Dill led the team with four.
 
The Bears were limited to eight attempts, only two of which, a try by Alix Herter and a late effort by senior Brianna Fortman, were on goal.
 
Saturday's forfeit: Kentucky Christian University informed UPike that they are forfeiting this Saturday's contest. As a result, the Bears will return to action on Wednesay, Oct. 11 when they play Tennessee Wesleyan in Athens, Tenn. That game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
