MILLIGAN, Tenn. – University of Pikeville women's soccer season came to an end after a 3-2 overtime loss to No. 3 Milligan in the 2025 AAC Women's Soccer Tournament Saturday afternoon.
The Bears got the offense going early, with a shot in the 2
nd minute and a goal in the 4
th minute.
Jayla Boyd, off an assist from
Ruby D'Arcy, fired a shot past Milligan goalkeeper Emily Robinson.
The Buffaloes had the next scoring chance, but the Bears defense stood in front of the net and made a defensive save. MU took advantage of their next scoring chance, tying the score in the 17
th minute. Natalie Roper connected with Lauren Hawkley for the game-tying goal.
Charlene Lofqvist had the first three shot attempts in the second half, but all were turned away by Robinson. Lofqvist's fourth shot landed in the back of the net. Lofqvist, off an assist from
Rebekah Christopher, gave the Bears a 2-1 lead in the 66
th minute.
Milligan turned up the heat in the 74
th minute. From minutes 74 to 83, the Buffaloes registered six shots (four on goal), a header, and a corner kick. MU would tie the score shortly after. Hawkley got on the scoresheet for the second time, leveling the score at 2-2 in the 86
th minute.
Throughout the rest of regulation, the Buffaloes had three more shot attempts and two corner kicks but did not score. Milligan outshot UPike 14-5 in the second half and 20-12 in regulation. Knotted at 2-2 after 90 minutes, the teams went to a sudden death overtime.

Allyson Gonzalez was there for the save. The Buffaloes' next shot on goal would win them the match. Skyler Miller scored the game-winning goal in the 98
th minute.
Coach
Shane Taylor's team finishes the season with an overall record of 9-5-3 and a 7-4-2 record in AAC play. UPike finished the regular season with the most conference wins in program history.
