The University of Pikeville women's soccer team opened AAC play with a 5-0 win over Bryan (Tenn.) College on Saturday afternoon at Bob Amos Park.

UPike (3-0-1, 1-0 in the AAC) scored early and often, taking a 3-0 lead to the half.

Bryan (0-3-1, 0-1) had two first-half shots on goal, but both were turned away by junior keeper
Allyson Gonzalez.

The Bears needed only 1:29 to dent the scoreboard. It came when junior
Jayla Boyd easily beat the keeper from point-blank range off a pass from junior
Charlene Lofqvist.

The scored moved to 2-0 Lofqvist picked up a steal and scored an unassisted goal in the 21
st minute.

Before the half, a free kick by junior
Kylie Ritter in the 38
th minute from 22 yards made it 3-0.

The initial goal of the second half came in the 55
th minute. Again it was Boyd, this time on a dish by sophomore
Sara Ritter.

Boyd, a Beavercreek, Ohio, product, now has four goals and four assists through four games.

The Bears remain in league play but take to the road on Wednesday when they visit Knoxville, Tenn., to play Johnson University. Game time is 5 p.m.
