The University of Pikeville women's soccer team improved to 2-0 in the AAC with a 2-0 win over Johnson (Tenn.) University Wednesday night at Bob Amos Park.
 
UPike is now 3-3 on the season.
 
Johnson is now 2-3 overall, 1-0 in the conference.
 
The Bears had 10 shots on goal in the win, while the Royals managed only two.
 
In the first half, UPike posted the only goal. It came in the 8^th minute when senior Jayla Boyd scored off a pass from junior Rebekah Christopher.
 
It was Boyd's team-leading fourth goal of the season and Christopher's first assist.
 
In the half, the Bears had four shots on goal while the Royals had two.
 
The Bears added an insurance goal in the 75^th minute when sophomore Jacquelyn Reding scored her first goal of the season.
 
Junior goalkeeper Claire Cress had saves on both of Johnson's shots on goal. It's her second consecutive shutout, both coming against league competition.
 
Christopher and junior Sara Ritter had three shots on goal each for UPike.
 
UPike will be on the road Saturday when it visits Columbia (S.C.) College. The contest is set to begin at 11 a.m.
