CORBIN, Ky. – The University of Pikeville's men's golf team won the Maggie Mountain Invitational last week at StoneCrest Golf Course, and this week a member of the team was honored by the AAC.
 
Cameron Roberts, a sophomore from Pikeville, was named Men's Golfer of the Week by the conference.
 
It was the first time Robers has been named player of the week in his career.
 
Roberts shot rounds of 67 and 70 to finish seven-under par in the 36-hole event. He finished tied with teammate Freddie Muggeridge, a junior from West Sussex, England, but won a playoff to take the title.
 
The tournament was hosted by Alice Lloyd College and was set to play at 6,678 yards and a par of 72.
 
Roberts played the opening round with six birdies and a bogey. He followed that with five birdies, a bogey and a double bogey to force the tie-breaker.
 
Roberts and the Bears will return to StoneCrest to host their own Orange & Black tournament September 14-15.
