Brooklyn Newsome enters her first year as an assistant coach for the UPIKE dance team in 2021-2022. Newsome is a Floyd County native who graduated from Pikeville High School in 2017. While in high school, Newsome danced for three years and collected State and Regional titles.
After graduating, Newsome attended the University of Pikeville, where she danced for four years and spent the majority of her time as a Captain and leader on the team. Brooklyn is an active member in the community and has danced at the University of Pikeville Studio of Dance for 19 years, spending the last seven as a dance instructor.
"Brooklyn has had a passion for the program from day one and has shown leadership skills that are unmatched." said UPIKE Head Coach, Hanna Case, "I am excited for her to continue to share her love and knowledge for dance as our new assistant coach."
Along with her duties at Pikeville, Brooklyn currently works at Pikeville Medical Center as a Nursing Career Navigator.Â
