Eric VanHoose is entering his second season as the head coach of the UPIKE eSports program, which at the time of its inception in 2015-16 was just the second school to offer varsity scholarships for the sport.

VanHoose is an alumnus of UPIKE and former employee in the school’s information technology department.

In its first season of competition, the Bears competed in the Collegiate Star League, finishing with a 6-3 record in League of Legends, including a 2-0 season-opening win over Wichita State (Kan.) on Oct. 10, 2015.
