Bernie Haney became the head coach of UPike men's and women's swimming in 2022.
Haney joined UPike after spending 17 years coaching club swimming in Paintsville, Ky., and surrounding areas. She currently serves as the principal at Our Lady of the Mountain School in Paintsville.Â
Haney attended Pikeville College beginning in the late 1970s, becoming one of the best women's basketball players in program history. She was a two-time All-KIAC selection and finished with over 1,100 career points throughout three seasons. She was inducted into the UPike Hall of Fame in 1999.Â
Haney has three daughters, Kendra, Lauren, and Shelby. Besides coaching swimming, Haney enjoys cooking and gardening. She resides in Paintsville with her husband, Mike.
