Pikeville (10-6, 2-4 in the Mid-South Conference) took a 67-58 lead with 3:36 to play when junior
Trevor Setty nailed a three-pointer from left of the top of the arc.
But from there, it was all Patriots. Five different players shared in scoring the last dozen points, with a dunk by junior Stephan Pope giving the guests the lead at 69-67 with 16.7 seconds left.
After a turnover, Pope hit the second of two free throws with 9.1 seconds remaining. An off-balanced three-pointer at the horn by Setty was no good.
The game was tight throughout. Back-to-back baskets by Travis Wilkins put the Patriots on top 6-0 with 17:05 left in the opening half, but the Bears used a 12-5 run that ended on a putback by senior Andre Young to take a 16-15 lead with 8:49 left.
In the midst of the run, Setty recorded a four-point play with 11:08 left to score the 1,000
th point of his career. The junior led the Bears with 18 and shared rebounding honors with seven, and now has 1,013 points as a Bear.

The teams were tied four more times in the first 11 second-half minutes, including at 51 with 9:07 left after a three-point shot from the right wing by Patriot senior Brandon Johnson.
But a three by sophomore
Josh Whitaker with 8:33 left began an 11-point run by the Bears that included a pair of three-point buckets by Setty, including the one that ended it with 5:56 left to make it 62-51.
The Patriots scored six of the next eight, but Setty's three with 3:36 left seemed to stem the tide. But from there, the Patriots slowly took control of the game.
Setty was joined in double figures by only one teammate, as junior
Kenny Rhymes added 17.
Pikeville lost the game despite having half its 44 rebounds off the offensive glass.
