Men’s soccer falls to top-ranked Lindsey Wilson

COLUMBIA, Ky. – New University of Pikeville men's soccer coach Shane Pulliam saw what it takes to be the best in his very first match as head Bear, losing to No. 1 Lindsey Wilson College 8-0 Tuesday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
 
Pulliam faced off against his junior college coach Ray Wells in the contest, which was preceded by Lindsey Wilson raising its eighth national championship banner, all won under his guidance.
 
Lindsey took a 4-0 lead to the half, then didn't score until the 17:15 mark of the second half when Eddy Campbell found the back of the net.
 
The Blue Raiders got three goals from Philip Sandgren, while Campbell posted two. Lwandiso Gonya, Tom Moody and Trae Wells also scored.
 
Assists went to Yazeed Davids, Kirk DeBoer and Nicos Mastoroudis.
 
Pikeville's only shot was taken by Austin Mustain.
 
Goalkeeper Sheldon Thomas recorded 15 saves for the Bears.
 
The Bears will remain on the road Saturday when they visit Berea College for a 7 p.m. contest.
