PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – Shawnee State University made quick work of the University of Pikeville on the volleyball court Monday night, cruising to a 3-0 win.
SSU (7-2 overall, 2-0 in the Mid-South Conference) won by scores of 25-8, 25-13, 25-5.
Pikeville (2-4, 0-2) managed a mere five kills in the match. Senior
Brittany Hodge recorded three while freshman
Chelsea Staples added two. On the defensive side, the Bears had only four block assists, getting two from Staples and one apiece by junior
Stephanie Dounseroux and sophomore
Taylor Watkins.
Sophomore
Taylor Bragg led the Bears with four digs.
After opening with two wins in their first three matches in the Labor Day Volleydawg Classic in Lebanon, Tenn., the Bears had dropped three straight.
UPike will remain on the road Wednesday night when it visits Berea College for a 6 p.m. contest.
