Box Score PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson College posted 22 fourth-quarter points to turn a five-point deficit into a 53-36 win over the University of Pikeville on Saturday afternoon at the W.C. Hambley Athletics Complex.
 
Lindsey Wilson (2-1) both ran and passed for more than 300 yards, and its 610 yards of total offense is the most in school history and the third most ever allowed by a Pikeville team. The Blue Raiders also posted 53 points against a Pikeville team that had allowed only 35 points through two games and none after halftime.
 
Pikeville (2-1) put together 449 yards of offense on its own as senior quarterback Trevor Hoskins (18-of-31, three touchdowns and one interception) had his first 300-yard passing game of the season, throwing for 326, posting the sixth 300-yard passing game of his career.
 
Junior receiver Jordan Amis caught six passes for 143 yards and a score, giving him six career 100-yard receiving games. Sophomore Shawntez Johnson came just shy of the mark with 98 yards on four hauls and a score.
 
The Bears also ran for 123 yards, with freshman Chris Perry, who caught a touchdown pass, rushing for 91 yards and a score.
 
Lindsey Wilson had two 100-yard rushing efforts, getting 120 from freshman Tommy Smith and 116 from junior Rome Cotton. Both scored twice on the ground.
 
Sophomore Branden Cresap, who beat the Bears with a touchdown run with 2.1 seconds left a year ago, was 18-of-28 for 301 with a score and a pick. He made 10 receivers happy in the game, with none catching more than three balls.
 
Trailing by five to start the fourth period, the Blue Raiders had three long scoring drives to pull away. Cresap capped the first one with 12:46 to play with a one-yard keeper, and then found sophomore Ben Madon for the conversion. The seven-play, 80-yard drive made it 39-36.
 
Cotton finished a five-play, 71-yard drive with a three-yard scamper with 9:48 to play, with junior Mark Corbett's kick making it 46-36. An insurance score came from Smith, whose nine-yard run was the capper of a 10-play, 67-yard drive that peeled 5:37 off the clock and ended with 2:57 to play.
 
By the end of the first period, each team had found pay dirt twice. Cresap hit junior Willie Jones for a 38-yard score to begin things, with UPIKE answering when Hoskins found Amis for 73 yards. It was the longest play in the career of both players and the fourth longest passing play in school history.
 
Junior Hunter Adams scored on a three-yard rush before Smith found a seam and went 56 yards, ending the first period at 14-14.
 
Lindsey regained the lead with 9:07 left in the half on a 19-yard run by senior De Wallace, only to see the Bears even it again on a seven-yard pass from Hoskins to Perry with 5:44 to play. A 23-yard Corbett field goal with 1:21 remaining sent the Blue Raiders to the locker room on top 24-21.
 
Pikeville seemed to take control in the third. Perry blasted through the line for a 72-yard run with only 57 seconds gone in the half, and a bad snap on a punt gave the Bears a safety with 12:42 remaining to make the score 30-24.
 
Cotton scored from nine yards out before Hoskins ended a 75-yard drive with a two-yard corner pattern to Johnson to make it 36-31 with 6:33 remaining in the third.
 
But the Blue Raiders took control in the final frame and Beat the Bears for the third time in as many meetings.
 
Senior safety Rodney Dantes led everyone with 11 tackles, eight of them solos. He added a tackle for loss and forced a fumble. J.K. Hall continued his torrid freshman season with eight tackles and an end-zone interception.
 
Lindsey Wilson got seven tackles, five of them solos, from senior defensive back Griffin Clark.
 
Pikeville remains home next Saturday when it entertains U.Va.-Wise. The game has been moved to a 7:07 opening kick.
 
Lindsey Wilson will host fourth-ranked Georgetown next Saturday night.
