No. 6 Lindsey Wilson Tops Women’s Soccer 10-0

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Leading the game in shots 41-1, sixth-ranked Lindsey Wilson overwhelmed the University of Pikeville women's soccer team for a 10-0 shutout win on Sunday evening at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

Eleanor Hollingsworth tallied UPIKE's lone shot, which was on goal and saved by Blue Raider starting goalkeeper Johanna Henriksson. Megan Rausch took over for Henriksson in the second half, logging just under 21 minutes in goal.

It was a busy night for UPIKE's Chelsea Schulte who finished with a season-high 13 saves and 10 goals allowed. Amanda Kander led the Blue Raiders in shots with seven, while six from Lindsey Wilson put three shots on goal.

The Blue Raiders (8-3-2, 5-0 MSC) spread the offensive production around, getting two goals each from Lyana Perez, Karin Bernet and Carola Schneider. The other four goals were netted by Kander, Ayaki Shinada, Bettina Brulhart and Elizabet Madjarac.

It was only a 2-0 lead at halftime as Perez scored in the 17th minute off a pass from Shinada and Kander added a score two minutes later from Brulhart. But the Blue Raiders picked up steam in the final 45 minutes, adding eight goals, including two in the 60th minute and three more in the final 15 minutes of play.

It was a cleanly played game with no caution and just eight fouls, seven of which were called on the Blue Raiders. LWC finished with an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks as UPIKE (8-5, 2-3 MSC) obtained its lone attempt in the first half.

The Bears are down to just three more regular-season games with the next one taking them to Shawnee State in Portsmouth, Ohio at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday.
