PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville controlled possession, tallying a 19-6 advantage in total shots, as it topped the University of Pikeville men's soccer team 4-0 on Saturday at Shelby Valley High School.
Gustav Carlsson scored first in the 16th minute off an assist from Ryan Foster before Foster got in on the scoring act about 20 minutes later from Marcelo Petit.
Leading 2-0 at halftime, the Tigers (11-5, 4-2 MSC) added second-half goals from Roraigh Yearwood and Guilherme Cheng in the 67th and 90th minutes, respectively.
The Bears (2-7-1, 0-5-1 MSC) didn't have an answer as Exon Menjivar was the only player to get off multiple shots with two as UPIKE managed just one shot on goal for the entire game. With the offense struggling to play a ball near the Campbellsville goal, the Tigers took advantage, firing 11 shots on frame.
Seven of the attempts were saved by UPIKE keeper Diego Rivas, but the damage from the steady attack had already been done.
There's more soccer left for the Bears as they travel to Cincinnati Christian on Monday for a 7:30 p.m. ET start, followed by a trip to Lincoln Christian on Oct. 30 in Lincoln, Ill.
The regular-season finale pits UPIKE against Georgetown at home on Nov. 1 in a rematch of last season's thrilling 2-1 win for the Bears in overtime.
