CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – Mateus Meira put the University of Pikeville men's soccer team up 1-0 at Ohio Christian with a first-half penalty kick, but the Trailblazers responded with a pair of second-half scores to edge the Bears 4-2 on Thursday.
UPIKE (2-5, 0-3 MSC) now looks ahead to Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET against Campbellsville as it looks for its first win in Mid-South Conference play. The Tigers are 7-5 overall coming into the game and an even 2-2 in league play.
Ohio Christian's Angel Paredes and Luis Rosas spoiled the Bears' lead with the second-half strikes, while Alex Marstiller was credited with the assists on both goals.
Diego Rivas had a solid game in goal for UPIKE, wrapping up five saves on the Trailblazers' six shots on goal. His counterpart Bryon Davis finished with seven saves as the Bears tallied seven shots on frame, led by Meira with four.
Total shots were tied 9-9 between UPIKE and OCU, while corner-kick chances went in favor of the Bears at 7-3 and fouls were even as well at 10 apiece.
