Women’s Soccer Falls to Georgetown 3-1

PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Sarah Hencke scored twice for Georgetown in the first and 68th minutes to help the Tigers knock off the University of Pikeville women's soccer team 3-1 on Monday at the Bob Amos Complex.

It was senior night for the Bears as a large group of nine fourth-year players made their final stop on their home pitch. With the loss, UPIKE closes the regular-season with an 8-9 overall record and 2-5 mark in Mid-South Conference play.

Unofficially, the Bears are expected to be given the No. 6 seed in the MSC Championship which starts on campus sites on Nov. 8. That seeding would put UPIKE on the road to face third-seeded Campbellsville.

It was a 2-1 game at halftime on Monday as Kaitlynn Abdon put the Bears on the board with a shot to the bottom, left corner in the eighth minute of a pass from Carmen Koster. But Hencke added another goal in the second half and UPIKE failed to score again.

Georgetown (8-8-2, 3-1 MSC) outshot UPIKE 19-7 overall and 10-5 on shots on goal. Abdon closed the game as the only Bear to take multiple shots with two, while the Tigers' Hencke finished with five shots, putting all five on frame.

Chelsea Schulte, manning the goal for the final time in the regular-season, collected seven saves in 85 minutes of work and her counterpart Brittney Moshos finished with four saves in a full 90 minutes.
