Men’s and Women’s Basketball Welcome Cumberlands on Thursday

PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- After a brief break from Mid-South Conference play, the University of Pikeville men's and women's basketball teams jump back into league play on Thursday night, hosting two important matchups against Cumberlands' 25th-ranked men and women's team that is receiving votes in the NAIA top-25.

The women's game tips off at 6 p.m. ET with the men to follow at 8 inside the East Ky. Expo Center. Fans unable to make it out to the game can watch a live stream through East Ky. Broadcasting and Pike TV here. EKB's Z107.5 FM will also be on hand for the local radio call.

UPIKE's last MSC doubleheader produced a pair of losses, with the women losing 93-65 at No. 5 Campbellsville and the men falling 99-78 to the 19th-ranked Tigers. Since then the Bears have logged a double-digit men's win and two double-digit women's wins to get ready for Thursday's tilts with the Patriots.

The Cumberlands women are off to a 5-4 start, but have played arguable the toughest schedule in the country, coming off losses at the top-ranked and eighth-ranked teams in the NAIA poll. The Patriot men are 9-2 overall and 3-1 in league play with one of the best defenses in the nation, allowing just over 60 points per contest.

Last time out for the Bear women they scored a program-record 138 points to rout Montreat (N.C.) on Monday, while the men took care of Cincinnati-Clermont 117-83 at home on Saturday.
