PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Looking to snap a five-match losing skid, the University of Pikeville volleyball team travels to Shawnee State (Ohio) at 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday for a Mid-South Conference matchup in Portsmouth, Ohio.
The Bears of Shawnee State enter the match with a 9-6 overall record and 2-2 mark in league play, while the Bears of UPIKE are an even 7-7 overall with an 0-5 league record.
Shawnee State is 2-3 in its last five matches, most recently losing at Cedarville (Ohio) 3-2 after beating Cumberland (Tenn.) at home in the previous match 3-0. Libero Madison Smith is a leader for the SSU defense, ranking 11th in the NAIA in digs per set with six, while Paige Zelich is its leading attacker, averaging 2.6 kills per frame.
UPIKE continues to be strong on serve as newcomer Caitlynn Pfaadt is the leader with 51 total aces, which is tied for the second most in the MSC.
