Volleyball Falls at Cumberlands 3-0

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- Behind a match-high 11 kills from Morgan Schlatter, Cumberlands topped the University of Pikeville volleyball team 3-0 on Wednesday night with set scores of 25-9, 25-22 and 25-8.

It was a tough hitting night for the Bears who tallied a -.014 attack percentage, while the Patriots tallied a .309 clip. Of the three sets played, UPIKE hit a positive mark in just the second frame at .179 when it scored a match-best 22 points.

Syndey Hall was a bright spot in the lineup, finishing with seven kills on just 15 swings to go along with three digs. Cassidy Tackett chipped in with five kills and a solo block and Savanna Zakman dished out 14 assists. Rachel Murphy came up just short of double-digit digs with nine.

Cumberlands improves to 20-7 overall and an even 6-6 in Mid-South Conference play, while UPIKE drops to 12-19 overall and 0-14 in league play. Two conference games remain on the Bears' schedule, at No. 18 Georgetown on Oct. 27 and at Shawnee State (Ohio) on Nov. 2.

Next up for the Bears is a Saturday tri-match against West Virginia Tech at 11 a.m. ET and Midway at 3 p.m., at UPIKE Gym.
