PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Ninth-seeded UPIKE is set to face eighth-seeded Shawnee State (Ohio) in the lone first-round matchup of the Mid-South Conference Volleyball Championship at 1 p.m. ET on Thursday at South Warren High School in Bowling Green, Ky.

With nine volleyball members in the conference, the first-round match will send the winner into the quarterfinals against No. 1-seed Lindsey Wilson at 9 p.m., essentially being a play-in match into the tournament's main bracket.

UPIKE lost twice to Shawnee State in the regular season, losing 3-1 at home and 3-0 most recently on Nov. 2 in Portsmouth, Ohio.

The Bears enter the postseason with a 15-21 overall record and 0-16 mark in conference play, while Shawnee State is 15-16 overall and 4-12 in the MSC.
