No. 22 Women’s Basketball Rolls against Ohio-Lancaster

PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Turnovers made it tough for Ohio-Lancaster to stay in the game, giving up 34 with only three assists, as it lost to the 22nd-ranked University of Pikeville women's basketball team 115-39 on Saturday night at the East Ky. Expo Center.

While Lancaster couldn't control the ball, the Bears were busy putting seven players into double figures scoring.

Sandra Davis led the way with 20 points off the bench, followed by Kandice Porter with 19, Devin Conley scoring 15, Kelah Eldridge and Rachel Lee with 12 each, Kayla Day adding 11 and Dinyell Calvert rounding out the group with 10.

Led by seven rebounds from Davis, UPIKE controlled the backboards as well at 51-23 and had 27 steals and seven blocks, compared to four and three for Lancaster (0-1). Day led the steals effort with six and Davis sent back three blocks.

Day also led the Bears in assists for the second straight game with six, while Taylor McGlade was close behind with five.

UPIKE shot better from the field at 55.8 percent to 38.6 as Lancaster could only get offense from two sources. Sarah Miles led it with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Morgan Kirkbride finished with 16 points.

Depth played an obvious role in the rout as UPIKE's bench outscored the opponent's 61-0 and the Bears were better on the fast break with a 34-2 advantage.

It took UPIKE just over seven minutes to get its lead into double digits and it never looked back..

The lead grew as high as 41 points in the second quarter as a layup from Porter made it 61-20 at halftime. The lead reached 77 points in the final quarter as a jumper from Emily Baker pushed the score to 113-36.

UPIKE will have a few days off before returning at 5 p.m. ET on Thursday at home against Bluefield (Va.).
