Box Score BATAVIA, Ohio -- Led by Uzonna Akazi's 16 points, the second-ranked University of Pikeville men's basketball team cruised at Cincinnati-Clermont 99-63 on Saturday afternoon.
The Bears improve to a perfect 10-0, while Clermont drops to 2-8.
This was the second meeting of the season between the two teams with UPIKE winning the first as well, 97-55, in the third game of the season.
For Akazi, it's his second straight game leading the Bears in scoring. The junior's 16 points are a season high, while Colt Chapman and Marshall Bennett both chipped in with 14 and Jackson Hussey added 13. Macari Brooks was the other Bear that reached double figures with 11 points.
Bennett came up a board shy of a double-double with nine to lead UPIKE as it outrebounded Clermont 54-38.
The Bears were also much better from the field, coming in at 51.4 percent, compared to just over 30 for the Cougars. UPIKE making half of its 3-point attempts didn't hurt either at 6 of 12.
Steffan Green paced Clermont with a game-high 22 points and Roderick Avery chipped in with 14.
UPIKE held a 19-point lead at the half, outscoring Clermont 45-26, before finishing off the final 20 minutes with a 53-37 advantage.
