Women’s Soccer Drops 7-0 Decision at Cumberland

LEBANON, Tenn. -- Cumberland controlled the offensive opportunities on its way to a 7-0 win over the University of Pikeville women's soccer team on Wednesday at Lindsey Donnell Stadium.

The Bulldogs outshot the Bears 32-6 to improve to 3-6 overall and 1-10 in the Mid-South Conference, while UPIKE drops to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in league play.

Starting with Olivia Chu in the fifth minute, after she dribbled past Bear keeper Bryanna Schroers, Cumberland built a 3-0 lead at halftime before adding four more scores in the second half. Chu finished with two goals, while Savannah Keele led all players with three goals, scoring in the 67th, 72nd and 78th minutes.

Four of UPIKE's shots came from Kaitlyn Abdon, followed by Paulina Ruiz with the other two. Two of Abdon's were on target and one of Ruiz's forced a save from keeper Ashley Kambeitz.

Kambeitz finished with three saves while registering the shutout and Schroers collected five saves in the first 45 minutes. Lara Verhulst closed the game for the Bears, collecting five saves of her own.
