BEREA, Ky. -- A four-game losing streak is in the past as the University of Pikeville women's soccer team returned to winning form with a 2-1 decision at Berea on Tuesday.
UPIKE scored the first goal of the game in the 20th minute off a shot from Macarena Acuna, but the Mountaineers knotted things up six minutes later on an unassisted strike from Sohara Perez.
The game-winning goal didn't come until the second half when Acuna found the back of the net again in the 57th minute off a cross from Rian Mullen.
The Bears move to 7-10 overall with the win, while Berea drops to 5-10-1. UPIKE led the game in shots 9-5, but held just a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. Corner kicks went to the Bears 4-2 and fouls went in favor of Berea 13-8.
