PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Pikeville women's soccer team shut out fourth-ranked Lindsey Wilson in the second half, but the damage had already been done in a five-goal first, helping the Blue Raiders to a 5-0 win on Thursday at the Bob Amos Complex.

Lindsey Wilson took 13 minutes to get the scoring started, but once Lyana Perez picked up a loose ball in the middle of the penalty box for the quick finish, it kept its foot on the gas. Goals followed in the 17th, 18th and 20th minutes before Yvonne Ploeg finished things off with the fifth goal in the 28th.

Perez and Ploeg accounted for two goals each, while Annika Koemm delivered the game's fourth score off a short cross to the top of the box from Ploeg.

The Blue Raiders outshot the Bears 19-6 and showed off their accuracy by putting 15 of them on target. UPIKE was consistent as well, putting four of its six attempts on goal. The barrage of shots led to UPIKE keepers Bryanna Schroers and Moreka Buchanan collecting six and four saves, respectively.

Macarena Acuna paced the Bears with a pair of shots, both of which were saved by the Blue Raiders' Jovana Ivanovic. Perez paced Lindsey Wilson with nine shots, placing six on goal.

Fouls went in favor of LWC 7-5, as did corner kicks 7-2 and off side calls 6-0.
