Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Despite Outshooting Cincinnati Christian, Women’s Soccer Falls 2-0

CINCINNATI – Cincinnati Christian scored a goal in each half to top the University of Pikeville women's soccer team 2-0 on Saturday, despite being outshot by the Bears 13-12.

Despite being the overall aggressors on offense, the shots put on target were what mattered and the Bears trailed the Eagles 9-6 in shots on goal.

Taking advantage of big opportunities also helped as Cincinnati Christian (5-5-1) got on the board first with a penalty kick in the 24th minute. Following a corner kick by the Eagles, UPIKE was called for a foul inside the penalty box. Sarah Rall took the kick and booted it into the back of the net.

The next goal wouldn't come until the 65th minute when Maren Hance headed one in off a cross from Maddie Rench deep in the corner.

Macarena Acuna did her best to put the Bears (6-7) on the board, but couldn't finish any of her team-high five shots, of which four were on goal. Kendra Steepe had a lot to do with that in goal for the Eagles, finishing with six saves to secure the shutout.

Chelsie Randolph outdid Steepe by one with seven saves, but didn't get any goal support. Hance paced Cincinnati Christian with four shots, putting all but one on target.
