COLUMBIA, Ky. (MSC) -- The University of Pikeville football team and Georgetown finished tied atop the Mid-South Conference East Division football standings and share the 2016 division title.
In the regular-season finale on Saturday, the Bears hit a field goal as time expired to defeat the 17th-ranked Tigers 10-7 and capture a share of the MSC East Championship.
It's Georgetown's second-straight season with at least a share of the MSC East title and sixth since divisional play began in 2005. The Tigers finished the regular season 7-4 overall, while recording a mark of 5-1 in divisional games.
UPIKE wins its first MSC football title since the program began in 2001. The Bears finished the 2016 regular season with a 6-5 overall record and 5-1 mark in divisional contests.
The NAIA Football Championship Series bracket is slated to be released on Sunday at 5 p.m. ET on the NAIA Network.
