BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- After 14 scoreless minutes to start the game, top-seeded Lindsey Wilson opened the scoring in the 15th minute and continued to add to its lead through the 87th on its way to a 15-0 win over the University of Pikeville men's soccer team in the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Championship on Thursday.
MSC Player of the Year Aleksi Pahkasalo paced the Blue Raiders with four goals, followed by Mutuya Mwape with three and four others with two goals each in the shutout win.
Lindsey Wilson outshot UPIKE 34-2, putting 22 of its attempts on goal. Mwape and Pahkasalo were once again the leaders there with seven shots each. UPIKE's shots came from Donald Anderson and Harry Hill, neither were on target.
With a busy day in goal, Bear keeper Jorge Mejia collected seven saves,
Corner kicks went LWC's way 6-0, as did offside calls 8-1. It was a 4-0 Blue Raider lead at halftime before they went on to score 11 goals in the second half.
UPIKE wraps up the 2016 season with a 4-13 overall record and 1-6 mark in MSC play, while Lindsey Wilson advances to the semifinals with a 12-4-1 overall record and 6-0-1 league record.
